I finally caved to pressure from my female friends (re: pant inseam)

I’m very tall but evenly proportioned. I have trouble with ‘tall’ pants because the rise tends to be too high.

I did the opposite in the last year. I’m a 6’1" (and change) male, and had always worn a 32" inseam. After much derision on the part of my SO and friends, I switched to a 34" inseam. Lots better.

My legs are so short and stubby that the “short” cut of women’s jeans is still too long. I don’t know how to sew, and I can’t afford professional tailoring, so I have just learned to live with draggy hems. Oh well.

I used to know a guy who was 6 feet tall and wore pants with a 28" inseam. No typo there! When he was sitting down he looked about 7 feet tall. Had a helluva time finding a car to drive … had to fit his torso and be able to move the seat far enough forward for him to reach the pedals!

Just sayin’. All the “old” men I know wear their pants ridiculously high at the cuff.

My favorite “old man” (62?) coworker wears his pants such that I can easily see an inch of sock when he’s standing upright, two inches when he walks.

And he makes fun of my pants.

I love him to death.

Safety pins? Staples? Duct tape?

Sewing up hems is very easy when you know how - maybe you can get someone to show you?

Do you know how hard it is to find pants in a 32X34 size? Apparently I’m the only guy on this Earth who is skinny and tall. Either that, or there’s millions of us and I’m always the last one to the clothing rack. I wore 32X32 forever…literally ever since 10th grade all the way to about 27 years old. Then I realized that my pants were all getting shorter.

Weird…because I still had a few pairs from high school that fit fine. But new pants off the rack in a 32X32 didn’t fit anymore. So 32X34 it is. Fits much better. A few brands are really long (as though they use a different concept of inches), but I just roll them up a bit when not wearing shoes.

I’m not quite 5’4" and my torso is short compared to my legs, so petite pants meant for women my hight or less are too short, and average is too long about 1/3rd of the time…grrr. I don’t like how hemmed pants (or god forbid, jeans) look or feel, so I live with them being too long if they turn out to be.
