And it’s about time, too. I’ve been looking for 18 months, and I’ve sent out countless resumes (nearly 1500, at last count). The handful of responses I received told me I was “overqualified.” Hmph. The dozen interviews I did ended in no-calls, or polite rejection letters. I tried applying for retail jobs, and they laughed in my face. (And thanks, **dewizeowl** … your good luck thought seems to have worked! Strangely, my new job is right next door to your town, in Woodridge!) I finally broke down last month and went to the welfare office, after a long battle with my pride. That hurt, I’ll tell you. But I have a hungry toddler here, and it was either groveling for welfare, or starvation, homelessness, and who-knows-what-else. But now I can tell the welfare people that I don’t need it, after all! I got the call this morning, offering me a decent, full-time administrative job, with full benefits. I start Friday. I’m so happy, I’ve been dancing around my apartment all day. I can’t wait to start work! I never thought I’d be so geeked about going to work. 🙂 ---

Yay you. I am about to be laid off in about two months so I am glad to know there is light at the end of the tunnel. So, what dance have you been doing all around your apartment? ---
