This week, I got final approval for my master’s report from my report supervisor and my reader, formatted my report according to university guidelines for a report on disc, and had my formatting checked by a degree evaluator, who said I needed to use my full official name, and I started my abstract on the wrong page number.
I made these changes, saved the final version to disc and burned two copies. This morning, I handed the damn thing over to my departmental office. They’ll get the appropriate signature from the graduate advisor, then I can hand it on Monday and be done with my master’s degree.
As happy as I am to be done, I am left with my own personal version of Lewis Black’s “If it hadn’t been for my horse, I wouldn’t have spent that year in college.” My university sells a template to make formatting reports, theses and dissertations easier. It does this, but it also doesn’t format the front section, with the copyright page, acknowledgements, title, etc. correctly.
My university’s template doesn’t format reports to my university’s standards.
