Good thread. I have a great uncle who disappeared in 1936. he was a WWI veteran (US Navy), and was lost seen in Chicago (in a veteran’s home). My aunt is the alsy living relative, and she won’t be around much longer. We were never able to get this guy’s SS number, so i doubt the mystery will ever be solved.
My grandfather had an adult brother he never saw.
He was the youngest of several children and his oldest brother went west to be a cowboy when my grandfather was a baby. The brother eventually landed in Utah in the late 1800’s and I have all the Utah genealogy from a Mormon lady that compiled it in the 1960’s. My grandfather and the brother corresponded but never visited each other.
I’ve thought about trying to contact my Utah cousins but it probably doesn’t matter anymore.
On the other side of my family, my father also had a brother who died at age 6 or 7 of measles (screw antivaxxers!).
