Yesterday, on the way to work, I stopped at the nearby 7-11 to get some coffee. I got the coffee, got my change, and went to work (yes, I had to work the day after the 4th of July ☹ ) After work, at home, I pulled out my change to throw it on the dresser. What did I find but a pair of 1930’s Indian Head nickels! Yes, a _pair_ of them, dated 1935 and 1937. They’re not in mint condition, but their condition is far too good for them to have been circulating for 65 years. Maybe some coin collector threw them in the wrong pocket and accidentally spent them. They’re probably worth a few bucks each, but I’m not planning on selling them. A nice little find 🆒

A few weeks ago I got a Chuck E Cheese token in the change from a vending machine. The same machine would not accept it as a quarter though.

I’d suspect a dishonest machine guy. He fills the machine, substitutes ChuckECheese tokens or whatever, withdrawing the real quarter for himself.
A few quarters here, a few there, and pretty soon…:mad:

Well Sam, I am stalked by Mexican Pesos.

but to save you time I shall cut and paste.
1850’s Mexican Pesos
The damn things are following me.
I found the first one when I was 12 in springfield Ill.
In a park I was playing in.
I found the second at College ouside of the library.(Jacksonville AL)
The third I found in Huntesville Ala. It was on the floor of the resturant I worked at.
The 4th (and last?) I found laying in the gutter in a little russian village called Uglich.
Fuck if I can explain how I have found on 4 different occasions in four different places 4 mexican pesos from the 1850’s
I have them locked up here just in case they try to stalk someone else.

I’ve got some British coin from I think 1765. If memory serves, its got Neptune (the god, not the planet!) on the back of it. I should dig it out of my safe.

When I was in seventh grade a friend and I were walking home from school. We walked past a yard and he spotted what he thought was turquoise, you know, the rock that is used in jewelry. The turquoise turned out to be those rocks you put in the bottom of fish tanks. Oh well.

Oddly enough, I’ve had recurring dreams of being outside and finding groups of old, rare, or foreign coins. Haven’t had one for a while, but that’s probably because I haven’t had much spare new money to turn into old money recently.
This thread gave me a good idea for something to toss in my white elephant.

Well, about the oldest coins I have are Canadian nickels from 1936, 1940, and 1957. I think I have an American penny from 1944, but that’s about it.

Several years ago while I was a cashier at the store where I work, I went to open a roll of nickels. Inside, the entire roll was Indian heads. Somebody must have hit grandma’s coin collection to buy smokes or something. They were all in really good shape too. I have them locked up, they’re really the only rare coins I have.

'Bout three cents each. Dump them in a jar somewhere and your kids will sell them off at your estate auction.
The oldest coins I have have Caesar on them.
The oldest american ones I have are indian head pennies from the late 1800s and a half dime whose date I can’t remember.

The Indian Head Nickel had the unfortunate characteristic of wearing very poorly, so that if you do get one you can rarely even read the date or discern many features in the buffalo or the Indian. But when in good condition, as yours evidently are, it is perhaps the finest coin this country ever produced.

I once got an indian head _penny_ dated 1870 - the oldest coin I own that I didn’t intentionally buy from a rare coins dealer…
and I also once got a 1936 indian head/buffalo nickel.
Way cool.
