Germany, in addition to the other many wonderful things it manufactures, makes the most glorious brews in the world. There are beers in every country that I love, but when I take a long pull at something like _Rootberger Hell_ or an _Aktiem_, I’m in beer heaven. Someday I’ll get to Germany and drink my way through all the little braueris. ---

Woo hoo…beer!!! As you’d probably never guess from the username, I too love beer. My first homebrew is in the primary as we speak, pretty much done with the vigorous fermentation but still not ready for secondary (want to eek out every last thousandth of a point of gravity…started at 1.082, and measured at 1.023 when I checked it Wednesday [hey, I really wanted a sample, ok!!]…if it drops to about 1.014, then I’ve got me a 9% oatmeal stout with a good 60-65 IBUs, according to ProMash 🙂 ). I haven’t given up on commercial brew, though…unfortunately, being trapped in the beer hell that is West Virginia downright sucks, but I try to manage the best I can…tonight, bought a 6-pack of Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold in preparation for the snow tomorrow (was going to get the Sam Adams Brewmaster 12-pack, with Scotch Ale and Black Lager, but I don’t want to associate with anything Boston until the Steelers win 😉 ), have very big beers that I buy when I head home to PA (current one is the 11% Old Salty Barleywine from the magnificent Heavyweight Brewing Company…“Bigger and Smaller than Most!!”), and well…the West Virginia Brewing Company makes fantastic beers within the 6% handcuffs that they have on them. So, when life gives you hops, make beer!!! ---

Having my first Guinness in Dublin, Ireland was like simultaneously having the best orgasm I ever had and doing everything that led up to said orgasm, all at once. Since I can’t drink Guinness in the US anymore, what with its feeling like being cast out of the Garden of Eden and all, my favorites are: 1. Bass 2. Fat Tire 3. Stella Artois 4. The serious German rauchbiers though, the ones that have the strong taste of smoked meat, are the ones that I cant take. ---
