I have pictures in my head of the guy from Braveheart squinting at a computer…
He was on a review show - and because the book they were discussing was a bit of enjoyable light reading rather than a weighty tome, he criticised it on that basis. I suppose he wasn’t being completely prescriptive, though he did say “you” - but he was very dismissive of the book. Wish I could remember his name so I can have a proper target for my admittedly very mild annoyance.
So supposing all I’ve read is a buncha Joe Wambaugh. Would it still bother you if I voted?
Anyway, to answer the question in the OP, I’ll take a book, please. Mebbe this one.

I must say, I am a pretty active reader and I can’t remember a single time someone considered that to be nerdy, bookish, etc. What I have gotten a lot of the time, “You read? I wish I could. I mean I can read, but I simply don’t have the time/patience to do so.” And a lot of these folks are not TV couch potatoes, they just enjoy other things.
I’ve been chewing on thsi one for a month now.
I’d much prefer to be reading this so I can stuff my brain back into my head.

I read. I read a lot. I enjoy reading. I don’t enjoy staring into space. I especially don’t enjoy listening to other people whine because they are having to wait. I don’t pay a lot of attention to what other people read, but when people whine it distracts me from my reading.
