FTR, Wife is kicking my ass for not continuing down the road to another job in which I would be: 1. Working for a household name. 2. Had a base that was substantially higher than the minimum wage. Well, I had committed to this shit when the offer for an interview came along, decided, honorably, that “a bird in the hand” was better, and I handed the chance off to her. But it’s a big (BIG) company and I can shoot for something else, having aced the evaluation. (PSSSST! Never escalate!). I swore years ago that, as much as I love her, i wouldn’t work with her. Call centers were smaller and with fewer shifts then. ---

Fuck, I’m an engineer. For that, I’m coherent. And able to play well with others, as in “allowed to speak to customers.” “Escalation” involves sending the problem to a higher power, ie: your boss. He doesn’t want to see it. And the fax didn’t work! Fucking 19th-century technology but it almost never made its way from here to there. Honest to God, I was sitting there at lunch and heard a distantly familiar sound. It was a fucking Group 2 fax, made obsolescent in 1996! But it seemed to get through. Bully for the 19th century! ---
