I swear there used to be a place around here that explained all the inside jokes. I’d give examples, but I can’t even think of one right now. Anyway, I searched for at least three and a half seconds before giving up…what does hi opal mean? ---

It’s a very tired old joke that’s been misused. The namesake, **OpalCat** , would rather it lay still with a stake through its heart. If you want hip, mention “penis ensues” or “18 inch double ended ice blue dildo.” ---

If you google “hi opal” (with the quotes) you get the in-jokes page that Geobabe linked to. Just for future reference. Google can be really handy for when the SDMB doesn’t want to cooperate with searching. ---

Asshat is not an SDMB originated term. It’s used a lot here, but just as we didn’t coin “asshole” or “bitch” we didn’t coin “asshat” either. ---

Asshat, is one of those terms that I think originated on Fark though I suspect it might come from the “Something Awful” forums since so much of the Internet originates in that _ahem_ cess pool. 😉 It’s just a general term for a not-so-nice person.
