How about: “Apex predator, which, unlike a dog, does not have thousands of generations of domesticity and submission to humans bred into it, and which will grow up and, like as not, up and decide decide you’re dinner one night”. A _bear_? You have to be kidding. Do not do this. Get it to a bear rescue group or call your local animal control agency, but get rid of it. Please. ---

I also think “Godless Killing Machine” would be good. Or The Black Devourer ( change color depending on species ). Or The Hungry Thing In The Woods. I read too much Lovecraft in my formative years, perhaps . . . ---

Heh. I spent 7 years in Bearbook Gardens, enbebedden in State Park Brearbrook and I don’t think there was one damn bear in there. All I ever saw was chipmonks. And the racoon who lived in our attic. ---

Ok, last night was a bit exciting the yard imediately around the house was a bit of a mess this morning as someone has upended a compost box that was ‘securely’ attached to the ground. Not that there was anything left in it to eat but still the aroma must have attracted something and from the prints there’s little guess work needed. We have determined that there are at least four bears on our property at present and possibly another two in the near vicinity. Two students working in a research plantation on our property saw a mother and two cubs. A male has been spotted as well so that makes a definite four and there has been three different males positively identified within two miles of our house. Since we have a two year old little boy who likes to play outdoors now that it’s warming up we decided after last nights fun and games that it was time to call animal controll and animal refuge center and after discussions with everyone, well I think **Celyn** has the winning answer for the name _Fireside rug_ either that or BBQed. Animal controll are completely overwhelmed with calls closer to the nearest towns and the animal refuge has more bears than they can handle. I have to admit even away from any hint of civilization there are lots of bears, having already seen so many at work this year has been really unusual. Local hunters are being asked to help take care of any problem bears. I was so hoping that we would have a bear that would stay away from the houses but it’s starting to look like this is definately not the case. ---
