# I got a George V nickel int change today!

No, we’ve never had that one in Canada. We’ve had four versions - the early one with ribbons; the one from the 60s to 1989 with a light crown sloping in the back of HM’s head; the one from 1989 to a few years ago with a heavier crown, again sloping; and the current one without any headgear.

Interestingly, in Canada, we have had our same images (maple leaf, beaver, _Bluenose_ schooner, and caribou) since the 30s, except for commemorative issues. (The 50 cent piece has Canada’s coat of arms, but it’s rarely used as currency. The loonie and toonie, of course, were issued in the 80s and 90s respectively, but they’ve got wildlife too.)

I once found a 1914-D penny . . . _in a PARKING LOT_!!! It’s worth a few hundred dollars in that condition.

Could be. It certainly doesn’t look like any of the current British crowns:
