That’s what my wife says too. 
I had one for about for about two days last fall. I saw one in my neighbors yard and put up the feeder. Then he was gone. Thinking I would get a jump on it this year I put the feeder up a couple of weeks ago and a hummer appeared within ten minutes. I saw him rarely for a couple of days and then nothing. Maybe I’m just catching them as they migrate through? I leave a couple of blocks from the beach on a barrier island in NJ. I had always assumed that this wasn’t hummingbird habitat - not alot of woods around.
He wants to defend an easy, plentiful food source.
