So, after 7 months of sporadic employment, I started a new gig today. It’s contract work, but the pay is good (better than when I worked with the Big Four accountancies), less than five days a week, and - perhaps the best part - it’s got an end date!! Light at the end of a tunnel is comforting to me right now. Even the commute isn’t awful! It’s boring work (or will be, once I get entrenched) but, damn - it’s nice to be able to sit there and review bullshit that I already have a leg up on and think “heh - they’re paying me $xx/hour for shit I could do drunk, sleepy, and playing scrabble.” This is confirmation that my life goes through cycles of extreme bad “luck” followed by extreme good “luck.” I wish the good luck for all the rest. Good for you! I tend to always work temp jobs, because I don’t do well in captivity - that light at the end of the tunnel is critical for me, too. My work is also often boring, but as long as I can listen to my mp3 player, it’s all good. 🙂 ---

Congratulations! My husband and I both just got new jobs too, recruited about a month ago. I started two weeks ago, he starts Jan 10th. Hooray!
