Oh I went to the rhinoplasty4u.com message board and didn’t like it there. It sounded like everyone there was fanatical about their nose. People on their 3rd to 5th nose job. I am not looking for a perfect looking nose, just a relatively straight one that I can breathe out of.
Congestion. Terrible… ugh… want to blow and pick so bad…
Give it a few days. The doc gave me some nasal spray and it seemed to help a little once the worst of the drainage was over. The tenderness is normal and will get better. Hang in there and have some ice cream.
You’re coasting down hill now. Don’t try to guess what the finished product will look like now, though. Wait until the swelling goes down, the bruising fades and the nose split comes off. It gets better.
Stinkpalm, I know you’re dealing with some pretty serious discomfort with the congestion. IANAD, but I’d say it’s totally normal.
DO NOT spray anything in your nose that they haven’t given you. Your body knows exactly what to do at this point, and is sending all of the things necessary to your nose to help it heal. If you start spraying and moisturizing, you’re going to wash away some valuable, natural healing agents. You also don’t want to start softening or washing away any of the clots that are starting to form.
Every day, your congestion will be less. Every day, you’ll feel a little bit better. Just try to keep focus on how things are going to feel one month from today. That’s the reward for all the crap you’re snuffling up now.
Again, I hope you’re feeling much better real soon.
Well, I am a week post op now and I got my splint off yesterday. I am no nose expert, but it looks straight, my nostrils look symetrical, and the bridge is round instead of flat. I have tape on it right now and it is still a little swollen. I won’t really have a good idea of how it looks till my bruising has gone away. I figure in a few more days it will be totally gone. It is definitely still tender and I have no feeling in the tip of my nose or the walls of my lower nose yet. I guess he did a good job. It would be nice if I could breathe normally out of it though. MY left nostril is pretty much still closed off, my right nostril is finally starting to open up on a regular basis.
