Sweet! Big congrats out to ya!
Great news! Hope it’s a job you can love (or at least like :)).

Alright now ! Don’t crowd the man ! (hope he can see quality all the way to the back row… )
The missus had salmon and chose the “Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie” app. Plus, we went out for sushi last Friday (her favorite), so she’s content for while.
Yeah, yeah, going to the Outback to celebrate anything is a little cheesey, but their delmonico steak is top-notch, and when I’m in the mood for a steak (about once a month), that’s where we go. I make no apologies.
Domestic Beer for EVERYONE, on me!
I can. The inate quality of men shines brighter than the sun for me.
I’m gonna be doing the same thing I was doing in the years before I took that last (hideous, hideous) job- technology integration, outsourcing, insourcing, global operations management, new technology implementation and surfing the net.
Great News Winston! Maybe it’s going around because I landed one yesterday completely out of the blue. Maybe there is a New Wave of Hope for all the unemployed Dopers!
New Wave! NEW Wave! NEW WAVE!
Eh, I’m sorry for whining and stinking up your thread. It’s been a bad week. He goes for his pre-entrance physical on Monday.
Nah, he hates driving.
Thanks again for your good thoughts and congratulations on your good fortune. Here’s hoping Terrorcotta is on to something.
Excellent news, Winston. I found myself in a similar situation almost two years ago. I hated the job – it wasn’t always that way but corporate BS rolls downhill, and it was coming in fast and rank. They eventually let me go – not fired, just laid off without reason. (We do not have at-will employment here in Ontario for employees who have worked beyond their probationary period, but laying off without reason is permissible under the guise of corporate restructuring.) Although I was worried about finding further employment within the 4 week severance I got, especially at what I was being paid (which was pretty good for the field), I was more relieved that I was finally out of that hell hole.
In the end though I found a new job just a week after my severance ran out, and it paid even better, so it truly was a blessing in disguise.
Good luck on the new digs. Go give ‘em some o’ the reasons they can’t do without Winston Smith.
