The Brady’s had a double bed, IMS, but that show was later (more recent–how does one refer to things such as this?).
Didn’t Darren and Samantha have a double as well? Rob and Laura Petrie may have had twin beds, but they were the only couple that seemed likely to be shagging one another (and enjoying it), IMO.

The 1940s sitcom **[Mary Kay and Johnny](http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/marykay.asp)** allegedly showed the main characters in bed together and incorporated Mary Kay’s real-life pregnancy into the show. I say allegedly because, apparently, none of the original episodes exist.
Much later, **The Munsters** were shown lying side-by-side in bed, but there wasn’t much sexuality in the scene. Over on another network, Morticia and Gomez exhibited much more sexual chemistry - but not in bed.

Did we ever come close to learning just how old Samantha is? 😕 Wasn’t there an episode where Darrin saw some very old photograph or painting of her?

I seem to recall an episode with her in Salem during the witch trials and Darin
was there too as someone in the town government. I think I was about six years old at the time, so my memory is a little unclear.

That was a time travel episode. Samantha had no powers during the trials, as it had been established that a witch who travelled back in time before his or her own birth would become powerless. So she was less than 300 years old; beyond that, they never specified.

I don’t recall. Presumably either they found some magic talisman that brought them back, or a witch/warlock of that era sent them back, or someone from the 20th century threw them a rope.

heh heh… this made me think of watching “leave it to beaver” at lunch with a workmate of mine… i doubt the innuendo was intentional, just percieved that way to moderen ears, much like in this case. Beav was faking sick and june called a docter to look at the beaver… we started giggling. Whitey comes over… more giggling. beav asks him if the doc is a pill docter or “the other kind”.
Whitey says “he made me roll over”
beav: “did it hurt?”
Whitey: “it always hurts”
so after that we were rolling… nothin like a good old joke about teh butsecks
only made worse when the doc taught beav his lesson and beaver says… thank you for not making me roll over.
we laughed for the rest of the day… but surely the writers didnt intend for it to be funny for those reasons right?

Nobody asked, but I’m putting it out there: Hogwarts and Harry Potter have much to thank Samantha Stevens for. (never mind the literary tributes Rowling should acknowledge, and probably has; I’m referring to the films).
Of course witches are a subspecies–I’m willing to bet that magic ability aka witchcraft/wizardry exists on a spectrum, much like skin color–some here may well be witches but not know it! :eek:

There were at least three episodes in which Sam is sent back in time and loses her powers, but it’s because she doesn’t remember who she is. Once her memory is restored, she is able to use her magic.

I recently watched the old movie _I Married A Witch_, which the TCM host stated inspired _Bewitched_. That movie starred Veronica Lake and Frederick March. Now, those were two very good actors, but they were not very funny together. It made you appreciate the comic sensibilities of Elizabeth Montgomery and even the dork(s) who played Darrin.
Veronica Lake should have stuck to her chilly femme fatale roles. She did her darnedest to be a comic but sexy-as-hell witch, but she couldn’t pull it off. She was just not funny.
