I had an auditory hallucination this morning

I have to take both the house phone and cell into the bathroom when I shower. Otherwise I always hear it ring while I’m in there. Lately it’s gotten worse.

I can hear my son call my name clearly when he’s actually asleep. I’ve also heard my daughter cough in the bathroom when I was showering but she really wasn’t in the house at all. Many more examples.

I hope I make it!

Random sensory weirdness doesn’t phase me anymore. I’ve had auditory hallucinations. I’ve had scent hallucinations. My neuro chalked it all up to the chronic migraine, which apparently sometimes does weird stuff to my brain.

Well, actually, those are often extremely slow-growing and a number of people with them would die of something totally unrelated if they didn’t’ have surgery.

I’m not sure. My social life is dead. Hard to say how much the rest matters.

What you may have heard… was a radio broadcast…

I had, on a number of occasions, conversations with people where the words I heard were not the words they said. Kind of a nifty parlor trick until it started happening with the TV. I could watch the speaker’s mouth move with the words I was hearing, but when I backed up the Tivo, a whole different set of words were being said. Long story slightly shorter, complex partial seizures of the left temporal lobe.
While these episodes could be amusing, I found that I was “tuning out” for the better part of a minute. I would sit or stand still, until the seizure passed. That’s the unsafe part. 30 seconds of cruisin’ down the highway not doing the driving part could get dicey.
200 mg of Lamictal twice a day and I’m safe and sound…the correct sounds.
So, have a chat with a neurologist. If it’s nothing, then you can just entertain yourself. If it is something…well…

I just spent two weeks in a hospital after my blood pressure got out of control and I was acting … stupid, at the least. I think these two things were related.

So you didn’t get it checked out? Why the hell not?

Probably because some of the %^^ people here made it sound like the symptoms were no big deal.

I get auditory hallucinations occasionally. Usually a human voice, sounding clear as day. Sometimes random sounds that are probably a form of tinnitus. I’m hearing impaired, so there’s that.

Sounds that should be in the dream I am having.
Door slams.
Clanking in the kitchen.
Movement in the corner of my vision.
Door bell.
We have bells hung on our doors, very sensitive so we can tell what critters are doing or if someone is trying to get in, etc., I hear those sometimes.
This house creaks and groans, temperature & sunlight cause many strange building noises.

Stuff & critters hitting our steel roofing cause many sounds.

I am a super lite sleeper and not normal sounds get my attention all the time + I dream almost constantly it seems like.

Once, a big cat coughed just outside our open window. That brought me up quick. It just had to be an auditory hallucination, right?

Holy guacamole!

  1. glad you’re still with us!

  2. are you feeling better?

And, for the rest of you, if you start experiencing weird shit like voices, hallucinations, FFS get it checked out!

Thanks for asking. I’m feeling much better than I have in a long time. Sometimes you don’t even realize how bad you feel until the feeling goes away.
