Only a mild one, though. At 40, I’ve been drinking alcoholic beverages for 22 years and until this morning had yet to have a hangover. This is probably because I stick to decent stuff and don’t drink too much. But last night I was sipping [Thatcher’s Katy cider](http://www.thatcherskaty.co.uk/) and _really rather regretted it_ this morning. ---

I’ve only had a couple of hangovers. The first was about four years ago (aged 34-ish) and it involved a Saturday afternoon beer sesh watching the rugby, followed by a wedding reception at night with much attendant whisky. I’d always been puzzled by reports of this “hangover” phenomenon, but by fuck did I feel shite on the Sunday. Stayed in bed all day with cups of tea and Lucozade, couldn’t face the prospect of food until about eight when I had a massive munchy attack and phoned for curry and garlic naan. A memorable meal! Sigh…getting old sucks. ---

All right! I thought I had the record for being oldest with the first hangover – 29, New Year 2006. You should have heard my mother laughing at me when I fessed up to it. Sucks, don’t it? The worst part for me was the throwing up. Once that stopped and I got a nap I felt better. ---

A few years ago my friend’s mother had her first hangover, aged about fifty. “Call an ambulance,” she wailed in all sincerity, “I think I’m dying!” We laughed, cruelly. ---

I remember my first one. It lasted for more than a day. I’m luck I lived through it. ---

Also never had a hangover. Never been drunk, either. I like a drink once in a while. Operative word = ‘a’ drink. And the ‘a while’ is a rare occurrence. ---

Not usually a Maccas fan (MacDonald’s) but for some reason, it is a brilliant hangover cure for me - only problem is you then have to deal with the PMN (Post Maccas Nausea) totally unrelated to the hang over. ---

Hm. When you wake up to find your bra spinning around on the ceiling fan and no memory of how it got there, and you can’t get up to get it down because if you move you’ll die on account of your head will split open like an overripe mushy melon, and your tongue tastes like a furry rodent gave birth to stillborn dustbunnies in your mouth, we’ll talk.
