On a slight hijack, I recently read two different Jewish humor books that mentioned drinking eggnog as something Jews would never do. Is there something not kosher about eggnog or is it a cultural reference that went over my head? ---

My first reaction was an egg and milk thing, but come to think of it I believe that’s meat and milk? I actually know… pretty much nothing about Judaism. ---

Alas I am unable to enjoy nog of any kind, due to my first husband. We started dating as teenagers, before I had ever formed an attachment to the eggnog concept. My ex has… interesting ideas of what constitute felicitous flavor combinations. His alltime favorite snack was Wheat Thins and smoked oysters, washed down with a quart of eggnog. I’ll wait a moment for the gorges to settle… He brought this lovely repast over to my house and invited me to share, which I declined. So he ate the whole thing himself–and then came over to KISS ME. The smell would gag a maggot. There was something horribly synergistic about the combined aromas of smoked seafood and hypersweetened egg/milk that combined with the weird breath smell unique to Wheat Thins that was absolutely indescribable. I have never been able since that day to sneak eggnog past my nose–I start heaving at the first whiff. Thanks, honey! Well, it’s not like my ass needed the extra fat anyway… 😛 ---

For all you eggnog lovers, you simply must try Bigelow’s “Eggnogg’n” holiday tea!! I’m sipping a cup right now, and it’s soooooo good. A poor substitute for nog & booze, I know, but I _am_ at work… ---
