I like the _Horse With No Name_ spoof that came out during or shortly after the invasion of Afghanistan (partial lyrics follow): In the aftermath of the jihad We were lookin’ for low-life scum There were bombs and guns and caves and things But Osama must have sprouted some wings The next thing we saw was a videotape And the proof, it left no doubt The heat was hot but the trails been cold And Bin-Laden has not been found He could be riding through the desert on a horse with Hussein It felt good to get out of the caves In the desert you can make up a fake name And there ain’t no bombs for to give you no pain Al-lah, lah, blah blah blah blah Al-lah, lah, blah blah… The singer on this sounds remarkably like the America singer. ---

No. No, they bit hard. Only a career psychopath could write a song so painfully insipid as “Muskrat Love”. What drugs did the Captain slip into Toni Tenille’s drink to get her to sing _that_ hideous little cover? ---

The [Southern Alligator Lizard](http://www.wildherps.com/species/E.multicarinata.html) is native to coastal North America from Washington to Baja California. It sometimes climbs bushes and trees in search of prey, including bird eggs and chicks. Ventura Highway runs along coastal California, and while travelling that route you may indeed find alligator lizards leaping from trees and bushes. It’s just a bit of local color added to the song.
