I usually hate practical jokes and jokes that depend on cruel humour, but for God’s sakes, it’s April Fool’s Day. It says what’s going on right in the name of the day, boldly printed on calendars everywhere - if someone gets you today, it’s your own damned fault. I cannot support this rant. Sorry. 🙂 ---

Clever jokes that don’t make any one person the butt I like. Stupid jokes that get someone’s hopes up, like the fake lottery ticket, those suck. I got taken in for a couple of minutes last year by an article posted on a serious academic page that purported to have located a small population of Carolina parakeet - the only indigenous North American parakeet species on record, which had gone extinct nearly 100 years ago. I was ready to do a happy dance at my computer when I read the comment section. It really would have made my day, week, month, and year. Bastards. ---

If the pranks were actually funny, it would be okay, but too often they cross the line into cruelty. April Fool’s Day is often used as an excuse for people to be douches, assholes, or cunts. ---

**Maggie** , one of my friends did the same thing on Facebook. He’s the guy, and supposedly did the proposing. I’m inclined to believe it because his brother responded, but I’ll let you all know. WTF is funny about saying you’re pregnant if you’re not? Is it okay if a verifiably pregnant woman posts, on 4/1, that she’s miscarried? ---

Cruel pranks aren’t any funnier today than they are on other days, IMO. Wikipedia’s “Did you know…” links today were funny. They were all bizarre-sounding but technically true. Like “Did you know … [Thomas Jefferson](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson_Hogg) wished to practice [free love](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_love), but [the object of his affections](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Shelley) got pregnant and gave birth to [Frankenstein](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankenstein)?” ---
