# I hate being a political football. (NJ Gay Marriage Decision)

If it did not exclude the possibility of civil unions, absolutely. There are already 3/4 of the states with DOMA-type laws (or maybe it’s one shy). If the anti-SSM crowd tried to get too greedy and include civil unions in the ban, then no, I don’t think it would pass.

I would replace “fear/tradition” with “political concerns” and then say mostly the former but some of the latter.
