> \*\ ***Trinopus** , I’d like to ask you what steps you followed to write a complaint to the nearest corporate headquarters. This **is** a franchise store I’m talking about, but it seems to be a smaller franchise. So, where abouts would I go to dig up the big secret headquarters? \*\*

For me, it was easy, since it’s a big, well-known chain. I just hit the phone book, and called the Corp. HQ, and asked for their mailing address.

That was a long time ago: today, I’d use the internet. Nearly all chains, franchises, corporations, etc. have a “feedback” button on their web sites.

Also, you could wait until some time when you think the rude lady is _not_ on shift, and then phone and ask for the manager, and ask them for the phone number to the chain headquarters. He’ll be alarmed, of course – he’ll know darn well it’s because someone wants to lodge a complaint – but he has to give it to you. (How would it look if he refused?)

You might get bounced around a little, but eventually you’ll get to talk to a customer service rep.

And here’s where it’s a matter of personal taste.

I like to ask for their mailing address, so I can put it in writing. And I sign my name and address and give my phone number.

On the other hand, other people don’t want to give their names, and so prefer to talk to a c.s. rep. (This is a crazy age, and it’s not uknown for people to go out and seek revenge on the customer whose complaints have cost them their jobs…)

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out!

Trinopus

The moment the shopkeeper became that rude, I would cease to want the item she was selling.

Well, okay. But the thing is, once you got home, you didn’t have the comforter you wanted, and you had allowed the rude salesperson to control your life. She would have won, don’t you think?

I’d have bought it, and then told her what I wanted her to know. Politely. OR…written a letter to her boss. Possibly both.

Sometimes “the principle of the thing” costs YOU…

Why do you deal with a woman like that? If anyone ever gives me a hassle like that I would be loud , rude and very firm with her and what I think about her. Store Manager? Go to the web sight and find who the district manager or owner is. Trust me, if I found out one of my staff was running out customers, I would fire them in a heart beat.

When you do the KWK (Kill With Kindness) routine, the trick is to be just slightly TOO nice. Like almost, but not QUITE fake sweet.

That’s what I did to rude customers-I mean, they could complain and say I was being a smartass, but what proof did they have? I was being NICE!

You’ll never know what the problem with her is if you dont just ask, so in my opinion, next time she serves you, ask her what her problem is, be nice about it, but no need to go over board on the kindess thing, it could be seen as patronizing.
If you make a formal complaint, you more then likely will never know what her problem was, I know Id rather know in case it was something I may have done wrong inadvertently (sp?). Wouldnt you?

Alright, thanks, **Trinopus** for the advice. I’ve checked out the company’s website, but the secret headquarters is still pretty hush hush. I think next time I go in, I’ll ask a manager there myself. And if she happens to be the manager on duty the next time I go in, maybe that will scare her a little. If she refuses to give it to me, yet another complain to lodge!

No. Her problems should **not** be my problem. All I am, is a customer who wants goods and services from her store. If this is a case of something going wrong in her life, she should **not** be bringing this to work and taking it out on people she doesn’t even know. Also, I am ninety nine percent sure I have done nothing to offend her. Like I’ve said, I’m usually a happy person and always have a smile on my face. I was polite to her until I realized no matter how polite I was, she was mean towards everyone. It’s everyone she’s mean to, not just me. My friends and my family have been in there and get more or less the same attitude from her. The only possible reason she would have anything to hold against **me** is that I’m young.

Well, I don’t think it really matters what her problem is. What matters is that I feel welcomed in the store and a letter of complaint to a higher power will probably solve this.

I think you may have took me up wrong, I just wanted to clarify, I dont think you’ve done anything wrong, you dont think you’ve done anything wrong, but maybe she didnt like something that you said or did and thats why shes so rude… thats all I meant, didnt mean to offend you if I did… But considering it seems to be everyone shes rude to, that theory doesnt work very well, I would simply ask her outright, she would probably be so shcoked by it all that shed probably make an effort to be nicer next time your around.

Frankly, no. I find that worrying about stuff like this (that my reaction to her rudeness would constitute her “controlling my life”) is a complete waste of time. I have two options: reward her behavior or don’t. I choose not to, and she loses a sale. Sure, her behavior affected the outcome, but not in the way she wanted. If she were really in control, shouldn’t she have used her life-controlling powers to compel me to buy the comforter?
