I like listening to other peopleā€™s music, most of the time: often it provides me with additions to my own playlist. There are cases where itā€™s unacceptable: no, we are NOT playing the same smurfs song three times in a row. Because the car is mine, itā€™s not your dadā€™s car and in my car we donā€™t play the same song twice in a row, never mind thrice. The most extreme case was going to a concert where the header was Marilyn Manson (which Iā€™ve never been able to stomach and my friends liked), but where the second group in the 14-or-so-groups list was these new guys from California, Red Hot Chili Peppers. ---

Of course, the OP did not explain the whole truth (does it ever?). Thereā€™s a reason why my roommates must listen to their music through headphones and I donā€™t. Mainly, because they listen to a lot more music than I do. They actually have playlists on their computers! They listen to their music a lot! I do not. I listen to music in a very occasional and somewhat haphazard manner. I donā€™t have a playlist. I am musically retarded, which some may see as a character flaw and others as a disability. (I actually did have a playlist on my last computer and Iā€™m pretty sure it was just coincidence and not an actual act of God when that computer was taken out by a lightning hit on my houseā€¦ :eek:). So my roommates are subjected to my musical choices only every couple months or so when I go on a musical bender. Yes, itā€™s generally fueled by alcohol. Donā€™t judge me! So, yes - on those occasions, they must listen to a lot of APP (as previously stated), Chris Isaak (artist of choice for depressives and who doesnā€™t love ā€œWicked Gameā€?), some Enya, Emer Kenny, Fiona Joyce (ā€œCry Over Youā€ gets a lot of play time) or other Celtic type tunes, with a few dashes of Dire Straits, Queen, Cheap Trick and yes, even Paul Simon, to name just a few. I tend to vacillate wildly in my choices - picking random selections from YouTube because I donā€™t have a great deal of ā€˜brand loyaltyā€™. Roommates havenā€™t complained. Probably for two reasons. One is that they frequently like my choices. Two, because, like I said, it doesnā€™t happen often enough to be really annoying and three, hey Iā€™m the landlord! I pretty much get to do what I want 'cuz its my house! If they canā€™t deal with it, they are free to move out. If I listened to music as frequently as they do, I would probably have headphones! As it is, they have to listen to my audible books far more often than music - and I donā€™t play those all that loudly. So, no need to feel too much pain for my roommatesā€™ sake - they seem to deal with my little idiosyncrasies just fine. šŸ™‚ ---
