I know. Can’t stand it, no matter how “good” the music is. I will say that in 15 years of apartment living, nobody has ever said shit to me about playing piano – a buddy said straight up that nobody really cares unless it’s loud-ass guitar. IME that’s true, and I crank the motherfuckers when I want to play. Not because I’m so good, but nobody seems to care as long as its that nice quiet man who lives next door. I always ask my neighbors if I’m bothering them, as soon as I move in – they don’t say shit. Wear some headgear already! Maybe they figure that rapists and thieves don’t play their crack Bach or crack Chopin so much. Who knows – it’s weird, because I hate loud neighbors (had one evicted) but I play loud as shit when I need too. Nobody seems to care, so I guess it’s OK. I still would hate to live next door to me, but if nobody has a problem so far, I guess it’s OK. ---

Didn’t want to come off as a dick – I only crank when my ears are tired of listening with cans. And I always and frequently ask all my neighbors in earshot if things are too loud from the get-go. Sometimes the only way to practice is to get the sound you want live out the amplifier – not an excuse, just the way it is. Just like an acoustic piano, digital keyboards need some sonic space. And, yes, I have called the police any number of times on people too loud, and had a guy dragged off premises because his ess was too loud after numerous occasions. ---

I hope you’re talking about OP, **rachellelogram** , cause I’m stone serious – nobody gives a shit about nice jazzy piano not cranked through a fuzz-box. I know, cause I ask them and have always asked them, repeatedly. Not just when I move in, but every time I see them in the hallways. When my students come by, things are kept more subdued. But me shedding McGriff with high distortion even, doesn’t even ping. Be more clear, woman! ---

I think it’s fun to check out someone else’s playlist. It might not always be to my taste, but sometimes, I’m introduced to new (to me) music / artists. One of my favorite things to do is switch MP3 players with the Fella for the day (I was shocked to find a number of songs from Glee on his. Just when you think you know someone. 😛 ) ---
