I hate my fucking job! I can’t quit because I’m paid too well and my family depends on me. I’m good at it and nothing else I can do will pay as well. I’ve hated it for twenty years but kept getting more and more pay now I’m trapped. Cursed by a spell I knowingly, willingly put on myself. ---

I hate making so much money for doing something that comes easy to me too. And I’m too damn hansom. I have to tell my younger wife “it’s my day _off_, get _off_ me!” You would think 5 days a week would be enough, but no, every fucking day is a _fucking_ day. I’m thinking of hiring it out to a high school kid so I can at least mow my lawn once a week. And my health is just great. When my other 50ish friends are talking about their health problems and the medications they have to take, I’ve got nothing at all to say. They go on and on and all I can do is a sympathetic nod. It is like being a soccer fan when everyone you know is talking American football. I don’t understand and can’t just fake it. I started taking a baby aspirin every day just so I could feel like I have a drug regimen to follow. And yesterday, yesterday right after I washed my Corvette it rained. It fucking rained! My life sucks! ---

#1%problems I feel your pain. Sometimes it seems like the more money you make the less disposable income you end up with. You grow to fit it, eating habits(all organic, nice restaurants), clothing budgets, a cleaning service, buying all the kids cars, remodeling the house, financial retirement goals, vacations every year, blah blah. But you really can simplify. You just have to be willing to let go of things. Take the kids out of private school. Save up and buy a used car with cash instead of a new car next time. Re-paint your kitchen yourself. Drive to your next vacation instead of flying somewhere. Cut back on how many cross-town activities the kids are involved in. Walk and bicycle places more. Don’t judge yourself and your lifestyle based on others. The family will survive, and possibly even thrive. If you are hating yourself it will bleed over into other aspects of your life and affect them as well. You may just find your newfound “money problems” make your family pull together instead of falling apart. Enjoy, Steven ---

I’m not even close to a 1%er I put this in the pit because I knew many people would think I have nothing to bitch about, but I needed to vent. And for the record, the reason I’m good at my job is because I sacrificed the things that would have made me a more well-rounded person. The profession is fine, it’s dealing with people that make the job suck. Whoever said “do what you love and you’ll never work” was damned liar. ---

Yep. Know that feeling. I feel SO CLOSE to being able to not work - but I have to get expensive children out of the house and expensive husband (who, granted, does make a lot of money himself) to decide to cut back.
