Hee. I know what I would do if I were setting pyrotechnics for Kid Rock. I’d go to jail, but it would be worth it. And I could handle the steak dinners, but I’d feel uneasy if I had an Armani-clad model for a secretary. Or if I were a secretary required to wear makeup and Armani. I LOVE my job, except it has no creative outlets whatever. I get to surf the web all day while I work, listen to whatever I want on my headphones…I can work whatever hours between roughly 8 am and 6 pm, I can take lunch or not as I please (8 am to 3:30 pm…angels sing), my boss just wants me to call if I’m not going to be in AND she lets me make up hours of sick time during the week/following week… But the cube’s PINK. Ughh. Well, it’s kind of dusky rose colored, but still. ---

Ok I’m not sure if I follow your post (cause it doesn’t make any sense) but I sense some confusion: To clarify: 1. I had a job and was laid off 2. I was out of a job for about 6 months 3. During that time I lived off my savings, a credit card (with 0% interest rate for one year) and $405 a week (max unemployment for NY) 4. Found a new job -I could not live that way indefinitely (probably about 3 more months) -While moving back in with my folks or borrowing money was an option, I prefer not to do this since I am an adult. Fortunately I didn’t have to. (Thanks for auditing my posts though). So **Duckster** , I haven’t lived with my parents for years, I basically live as if there is no one to support me, and I had to use a significant amount of my life savings so that I could keep a place in the city where I could look for a job. Anyhow, you need to lighten up a little. Look…I’m sorry that the worst thing I have to bitch about is that the flat-screen HDTV in the break room at work is only 13". ---

Your situation sucks. Absolutely. The only thing worse than working at a job that has no hot girls in the office is this: You take your last $25 from your wallet or credit cards or parents (whatever), you go to a bar and meet some hot girl (okay, you’ve had a couple of drinks – she was not so hot, but she was talking to you and that’s hotter than anything you’ve experienced for months), and she says “Soooooo, what do you do?”, and you get to say “I’ll be honest because I’m a decent guy and I know that will make you horny; I’m unemployed”, and she flips her hair, smiles and says “Cool!”, and she bites down on her straw to suck up the last drops of the drink you bought for her. Then she secretly makes eye contact with her girlfriend that sends the message “Rescue me! We are OUTTA here – let’s take a cab to the Frantic Arms downtown for last call and some real men.” At the moment you have an advantage called a job. Suggestion: use it to get a new job and meet women. But you must have a business card with off-white coloring, a tasteful thickness, and a watermark… ---

For all those people wondering about the $405 unemployment check, yeah it may seem huge, hell it seemed huge to me cause I only make a few bucks more than that working my ass off but I just realized that **msmith537** lives in New York. I bet that $405 doesn’t go anywhere near as far as it would in the rest of the country. ---

I think I get it. You want a lot of money, great bennies and perks and you don’t want to provide any value. Sorry, Bro, it doesn’t work that way. I know your OP was mostly tongue in cheek but it sounds to me like where you are now is a well needed dose of reality. You went to B-school, right? Your place of employment needs to make more money from your work than they are paying you (including overhead) or they will have to cut back. Like your last place of employment.
