:mad: I’m not going to tell you why, it’s just too TMI, but I was wondering what do they do for men who lose their penis to disease or injury? I’m thinking of having mine removed. :eek: ---

What does TMI mean??? And why would you hate your penis? I think I’m the only chick in the world who enjoys being a girl and wouldn’t want to change… but has penis envy!!! ---

Well, just remember…nerves don’t grow back. So if there are any areas you want removed that produce, ah, “Sensations” you’d rather not lose, you’ll have to see if it would be possible to save the nerve endings. BTW, I’m not a doctor, lawyer, or a particularly honorable person. So please don’t sue me over anything I say. ---

There isn’t much that can be done for someone who has had a accidental penectomy. There are a few techniques for phalloplasty (constructing a penis-like appendage) but such approaches do not lead to a sensate appendage. At most, you’ll have a flaccid tube to urinate through. Penectomy is effectively irreversible (although microsurgery does offer some hope if the severed penis is preserved relatively intact and reattached promptly). If your reason for wanting to have yours removed is medical, I would suggest speaking to a surgeon about alternatives. If your reason is psychological, you should consider speaking to a psychiatrist. Please especially note that having your penis removed will make future sexual reassignment much more difficult. (I have no idea if this applies in your circumstances.) If your interest is strictly out of a nonpathological desire for sexual nullification, on the other hand, then… shrug, they’re your genitals. A brief browse through some body modification forums should find plenty of intriguing stories and photos of people who’ve had this sort of thing done. I question the mental stability of such people, though. ---

I think that if **fogmage** wanted gender reassignment, he would have said so. This is just a guess about his problems, but some men with sexual compulsions that have given them misery (e.g., commiting sexual assaults, exposing themselves) think the only way out is to remove their genitals. But, really, talk to a psychiatrist. There are other, less drastic ways to modify sexual compulsions. ---

This is all very cute Fogmage, but if you want a useful answer you’re really going to have to offer more info as to what exactly is going on with your nether regions. With all due respect Fogmage, if you have contracted an STD that is attacking your privates, or have some other unspecified ailment like a piercing gone bad etc., you really should be high tailing it a doctor as fast as your legs can carry you and not asking for vague advice on a message board. I’m guessing you’ve only got one penis (unless that’s the problem) . If you take care of it, it will take care of you. ---
