# I Hate my username

I hate my username too. When I went to register, I discovered that the one I wanted was already taken --I’m looking at you, **Mostly Harmless**. :mad: I don’t think I’ve ever even seen him/her in any threads (though I have seen **harmless** ), which compounds the injustice. ( **Mostly Harmless** , if you’re reading, I’m just kidding you 🙂 )
So “Nordic” was all I could come up with off the top of my head. I took it from an email address my father used to have, DarkNordic@blahblahblah. It’s not witty or pun-ny or in any way memorable; it just sort of falls there with a thud. It says nothing about me or my likes/interests, and really isn’t even physically descriptive; though I do have _some_ Norwegian in my ancestry, I’m usually mistaken for Italian.
So I’ve been wanting to change my username all along. My _first_ first choice was **Haywood Jablomey** , but I didn’t think I’d get away with it. I think **Voluminous Cerumen** has a nice ring, but …nah. As soon as I come up with something I’m going to put in a request.
By the way, **AwSnappity** , I like your username – it’s cute and memorable.

I think we already have one of them…
And might I remind everyone again that the proper procedure for requesting a name change is to e-mail one or more administrators ( **TubaDiva** usually handles these, but you could also ask **Lynn Bodoni** , **C K Dexter Haven** , **Gaudere** , or **Arnold Winkelried** ) and ask over e-mail. They generally check their e-mails more frequently than the board, so this will generally get you a more prompt response, and it’s best to ask a few of them, in case one is sick or on vacation or whatnot.

So, if years from now, I decided that my username was wearing thin, then in a fit of inspiration, decided to change it to something like, oh, say, **Thea Logica** , I could e-mail **Tuba Diva** and ask her to change it for me, provided that a month or so later, I didn’t decide that, too, was boring and change it to something like **agisofia** , right?
Oh, and **Rooves** , I’ve always wanted to play bass for a band called **They’re Coming to Get You, Barbara** , but since it doesn’t look like that’s ever going to happen, hey, ya’ wanna take the name off my hands?
