I hate “reality” t.v. shows. They say they’re real and unscripted but anyone with half a brain cell can tell they all have scripts and are all rehearsed. Plus they’re all really dumb and fakey. The dating ones like Elmidate and Love Cruise are espcially fakey. I wish people would make t.v. shows that make some sense if they’re called “reality” shows. :mad: ---

I hardly doubt that most of these shows are both scripted and rehearsed. When a million dollars is on the line, I highly doubt that there are going to be 15 other people who will dog it for the producers. Not to mention that “Big Brother” had 24 hour webcams set up for what, 14 weeks? And I don’t understand why people put shows like “Elimidate” and “Weakest Link” in the same category as shows like “Survivor” and “Big Brother”. They’re just not alike at all. The “Elimidates” and “Blind Dates” of the TV world are cheesy. Hell, they’re manipulated and tweaked to get the most possible reactions and uncomfortable situations possibly (see any episode featuring 2 complete polar opposites). That’s not to say that the make-up and composition of “Survivor”, “Big Brother” and “The Real World” aren’t chosen for that exact same reason, and it’s hardly a random sampling (Look! We found 16 extremely attractive individuals in bathing suits!), but they’re hardly receiving a script each morning. If you want to rant about editing, and the manipulation of the final product the director/producer does, that’s entirely fair, as well. However, you’re dead-on about “Love Cruise” being fake. But I think that’s simply a matter of the fact that everyone on that boat was fake. I can think of 12 people I went to high school with who would have acted the exact same way in a similar situation, even if they didn’t think there were cameras anywhere around. I really think you’re mistaking the phrase “the show is fake” with “the contestants are shallow”. ---

what can be less real than someone setting you up in some contrived situation, then following you around filming everything you do? face it, if it was “reality tv” it would be a shot of a dude sitting on his couch in his boxer shorts watching sports or something. at that point, get rid of the tv and just plant a mirror in front of the couch. (kinda related: my sister comes over to see my new baby. she wants to see the tape of the baby shower where the huge gust of wind blows the 2 gal bucket of teriyaki marinade over and covers her in smelly meat juice. _goddamn that was funny!_ i fish out the tape and have to rewind to the part where it happens. well, shes not happy with the results, and i tell her i haven’t seen it. she is flabergasted! she cant imagine i dont watch what i record on the new vid camera. i have to explain to her that if i watch everthing i record, i could only possible live 1/2 my life at most! well, it seemed relavent when i started typing…never mind) ---

It wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that all the contestants are aspiring actors/actresses who are trying to ham it up to show their range so they can get acting work after the show airs, would it? ---

What I really hate is ‘Temptation Island’ and that piece of shit ‘Change of heart’ show. Where they actually try to get couples to cheat on each other. I can’t think of anything more wrong. I’m stunned, frankly.
