And you must be correct about the efficiency and reliability because no one buys German cars anymore, hence Germany is the worlds largest exporter, not per capita but by plain numbers. ---

If we can get back to the OP for a moment: I gave up struggling with wheel bolts years ago. Any VW aftermarket supplier can sell you a set of screw-in wheel studs, with nuts to match. Try [http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=686](http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=686), for instance. Put a couple drops of Loktite on the screw-in part and changing tires is no longer quite as much of a nightmare.
