In case you’re fortunate enough to have no idea who Tila Tequila is, she is a 26 year old Asian girl who has achieved some notoriety through [myspace.com](http://myspace.com) because of her raunchy pictures. Or something. I don’t even know _why_ she became popular, exactly, but it led to her landing a deal on MTV to do a television show “Shot at Love with Tila Tequila.” SAL was a “reality” show that ended about a month ago, wherein she moved into a house with a group of people in order to find true love (again: or something). The trick of the show, however, was that half of the people competing for her affection were also women! Tila was unsure of her sexuality! Genius television! Ultimately, Tila picked a man. Or so I’m told. I will not support anything that MTV puts on the air, and this show really solidified that for me. If I were at my parents’ house, without fail that show would be being watched by my thirteen year old brother or either of my other two teenage sisters. I _pleaded_ with them not to watch it, that it was poisoning their brains and there are so many things to do that kill fewer brain cells (smoking crack, for example). To no avail, however. I hate MTV–really, really hate it–but I think my ire is even greater for Tila: she seems to neatly compact so many of this country’s youth problems into her 100 pound frame. She’s done nothing (NOTHING) to deserve her original fame; she _could have_ used that and gone on to be a role model for young people. Instead? She managed a way to make a “mating” show even sleazier than the others. I hate her. And she looks like a chihuahua. ---

I had to watch this show over the break (little sister had control of the TV and loved this show for reasons I cannot fathom). It was pure hell. It was like I could hear my brain say “Oh eff this” as he jumped out of my head and went in seach for a more worthy vessel. Then again, anything on MTV does this to me. I watch the shows with a morbid fascination, wondering how people could believe that it was all NOT staged. All of the “reality” shows reek of phoniness. I don’t know why she’s popular, neither (nor would I want or care to know). VH1 is becoming just as bad with all of their “reality” shows. I’m sure you’ll be happy to hear that one of the contestants is going to be a star in his own Shot at Love type show. And I’m sure you’ll be even more happy to hear that Tila is doing a 2nd Shot at Love. ---

She looks pretty sexy to me. But I don’t understand why she has a pair of crossed automatic rifles tattooed on her upper arm. What could that possibly signify? Support for the Ulster Freedom Fighters or the PLO? ---

I was stuck for two weeks at a hotel out of state for manditory training. This show was on 75% of the time and MTV was the first channel above the hotel check-out channel. Suffice it to say, if I was a coked-up Bush, it would be a toss-up which network I’d carpet bomb first: Al Jazeera or MTV. As for the charms of too much Tequila: I would not kiss her on a plane. I suspect if she was, say, a Democratic political pundit, an indie rock singer, an author, or something else that was likeable instead of tawdry and tacky (Myspace fame and reality show) the reaction to her appearance would be singular: “cute.” But because of what she represents - lousy low-brow entertainment - people are needlessly ragging on her appearance. ---

If you don’t think a pundit’s looks matter to people, consider the situation with Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter, or Jon Stewart. A singer’s looks don’t matter? Give me a break. Male rockers can get a pass, maybe, but an ugly female with a great voice isn’t going to have much of a career. ---

Her show is sleazier than the others for a number of reasons–I loathe it with a passion, myself–but bisexuality ain’t one of them, and I would gently suggest that you, OP, might be the one who has some growing up to do if you think it is.
