They will be too polite to look at you funny if you order a coke. If you’re worried, iced tea is fine also, or try sparkling water or mineral water. Or just plain water. Trust me, they pride themselves on impeccable service, which means not treating you as though you’ve ordered something odd. ---

I’ve had Coke there, no problem. To me, it goes better with steak than anything else. If there was something wrong with it, they wouldn’t have it there. ---

A few years back I took 6 people to RC for a work dinner. Everyone had a few drinks, table shared an appetizer or two, filets around with (I think) three sides shared, and deserts for some (not all). Total bill before tip was around $700. I then personally ordered a glass of Louis XIII (my first taste). It was $108 by itself, but the little ceremony of bringing it to me, pouring it in front of me, and presenting it to me was the highlight of the meal for everyone. You really had to see it to believe it. This was the RC in Los Olas (Ft. Lauderdale). ---

Haven’t done it at a Ruth’s (since I don’t eat beef) but ahve been to plenty of fine restaurants and: 1. They sell Diet Coke so I have no problem ordering it if that is what I want to drink. If they think it is disgusting they can not stock it. 2. Who the fuck cares what they think of you? You’re not there to entertain them. Go there and order the kids meal macaroni and cheese with a side of gravy if that is what you want. ---
