It’s not crack. It’s not meth. It’s not bukkake. It’s not Pron, God or Chicken Wings. I’ve been doin’ it like a motherfuck for the last two weeks. I did it at bowling last week. (Everyone noticed!) My new addiction is Rubik’s Cube. The original craze happened when I was 12, but I was never interested. Two days ago, someone gave one to my older daughter as a present. I’ve spent several hours with the cube; she’s spent about ten minutes. I’m going to have to get one of my own. This one’s already getting worn. ---

It was sad. First, she just wanted a scarf for the winter (so she said) Then it was just a baby’s cap and booties for a couple of expectant mothers in her office. Then it was just a sweater or two for her kids (I can quit anytime she told her self). Then it was sweaters for all the neices and nephews (Oh, and they’ll need gloves and scarfs too). And then it was for the neighbors kid’s and sweaters for their pets (including the goldfish!) Now she’s hanging out in alleys trying to score some of the good stuff, llama wool from Peru and Alpaca from New Zealand (they always give you the first skein for free). Now rumor has it she’s knitting a map of the United States (life size. The scale is 1 mile = 1 mile). She’s well and truly hooked, so to speak. Will she become unraveled going through the inevitable withdrawal? One can only wonder and pray for her. ---

My days of big projects seem to be over; I knit a bunch of sweaters, then I lost interest once I knew I could do it. Now, I just knit squares for my never-ending afghan while watching tv. (I’m not sure which style I knit in - English or Continental. I was taught to knit by my Mennonite mother, who was of course taught by _her_ mother, and I’ve never seen anyone else hold the wool the way we do.) ---

I love to knit! I taught myself this summer. I’m not good enough to do it while I watch t.v. or read, like I can with crocheting. Infact, if I let my mind wander the least bit, I make huge mistakes that don’t get noticed until several rows later. And thank goodness for acrylic needles! One of the things that made me wait so long about learning was the sound of metal needles. ---

OMG! I just learned how to do the knit stitch last noc. (and I did wonder this morning how I was gonna knit AND type!) I am knitting a scarf…but I am lusting after the purl stitch and am thinking of gloves, socks, hats… 🆒 ---

Actually I am a bit jealous. One day I’d like to learn how to knit. That could fill the down-time at Speech tournaments with productive activity. But I live in Southern California. What could I knit that I could actually _use_? ---
