Tonight, Mrs. Bricker and I hit our favorite little sushi place for dinner, and the chef, as he does from time to time, sent over a little experiment of his in addition to our regular order. I raved about it, and said it should be on the menu. And he said it will be. I asked what it will be called, and he told me it’ll be a Mr. Rick Roll. Yep - I have a sushi roll named after me. ---

Awesome. I’ll have a Mr. Rick Roll, please. … When I was a teenager, I used to go to the Dairy Queen in McAllister Place (mall in Saint John - the DQ is also an Orange Julius) and order a small “chocolate cherry Blizzard” all the time. They always knew what I wanted and served it up. One time, I was with my parents, and they decided to stop at the DQ on Rothesay Ave, and I asked for my usual, but the owner, a friendly old fellow, said he’d never heard of that, and he didn’t have any cherries. (DQ with no cherries?!) He asked if maybe I’d like to have some raspberry sauce mixed in with chocolate in my Blizzard, instead. I gave it a whirl, and he asked me to try it in front of him, to see if I liked it. Of course it was good, it’s chocolate and raspberry! He said he would make it a new flavour, and name it after me. He asked my name. I never did see an Anastasia Blizzard there. ☹ ---

I’m predicting that the Mr. Rick Roll has about as much chance of appearing on the menu as much as the Anastasia Blizzard did. ---

Well, what was it? I’ve never had a yummier sushi roll than the one with cooked salmon (they cook it in a toaster oven so that it’s still quite juicy, but just enough to bring out that great melty salmon flavor), avacado, some sort of mayo sauce, tobiko, and eel sauce on top (and of course it’s an inside out roll, as most in the US are today). Heavenly, but only Chen’s in New Providence NJ has ever made it. ---

There’s a Chinese place in Baltimore that has an entree called “The Bald Head Paul”. In the description, it says that it’s named after a customer who loved it. ---

uni is up there with natto and ume shiso for me as something I just don’t think my palate will ever understand. The rest sounds delicious. ---

This thread inspired me to get some grocery-store sushi for dinner. Not as good as restaurant sushi, of course, (and not _nearly_ as good, I’m sure, as a Real Rick Roll), but better than nothin’.
