[QUOTE=featherlou]
It’s a testament to how good a songwriter Leonard Cohen is though, that this song can be re-made so well so many times.

Of course, there’s always the Bono/U2 version, which everyone agrees is one of the most horrendous bits of work every committed to a recording.

Well at least we agree that Cohen could write.

I heard Jeff Buckley sing ‘Hallelujah’ on ‘The West Wing’.
I didn’t know then who it was but it was incredibly moving.
I hunted down the album (‘Grace’) and it’s still one of my all-time favourite songs.

I think kd lang is an excellent backing singer. :eek: :o

Huh. I love Leonard Cohen’s voice, all rough and tired and cigarettey. I’m also a big fan of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Tom Waits, all of whom are pretty far from the Frank Sinatra honeyvoice type. It really surprises me that so many folks don’t like Cohen’s voice; it’s one of the two main reasons I listen to his music.

Has anyone read any of his writings? I almost bought Beautiful Losers once but decided against it.
