This confuses me greatly. First of all, I never suggested I was an authority. I mean, I may be able to list more obscure women artists than your average person–though way fewer than many others–but no one can be an “authority” on whether one artist is “better” than another, or whatever, which is what I think you’re implying. So I just don’t get what you’re saying. Are you saying that my apparent subjectivity renders me not an authority? Again, first, not, but second, what does that even mean? I can’t tell from that if you even agree that she had a good voice or not. And if we DO disagree on her voice, how does my subjectivity versus your subjectivity render my opinion less valid, which is what you seem to be implying, than yours?
And then you end up by, apparently, agreeing with the qualities that I like in Carpenter’s voice, so I’m even more confused. Especially since I acknowledged that she had terrible taste in music. That coupled with, if you scroll up, the list of WAY more “distinctive” singers in my list, would lead me to conclude that you and I probably share extremely similar opinions, on Carpenter as well as others.
So I’m way confused. The harder I parse your post, it seems to be saying, “I agree with you, so you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.”
