If you don’t need all the features (such as SMS etc of ICQ and other IMs, consider Trillian 🙂 (or Jabber, or Miranda, etc). These are apps that let you Y!, MSN, ICQ, AIM and in some cases IRC from one interface. This means you have one proggy running in the background instead of 4. I use Trillian like this all the time, but have the other proggies installed so I can run them if I want to say, voice chat on msn or webcam on Y! Check any of them out at [www.download.com](http://www.download.com) FTR, I have a 6 digit ICQ nr starting with 56----, and it’s the same one I have always had (iow I didn’t cheat it) 🙂 Pleases me it does! ---

I remember a few years back when “hackers” would steal low ICQ numbers and sell them on eBay. I think I need to start an ICQ nostlagia thread. ---

To all those with low numbers - I have probably had about 8 ICQ numbers in my lifetime, some of them as low as yours. There was a time when I would find people randomly and chat with them. Nowadays it feels awkward. It feels like walking up to a stranger in the street and saying “Hello. Can we have a chat?” Just checking in before bed here, not much time to respond to individual posts or ICQ messages, sorry. ---

Until I got my digital cam, I used ICQ exclusively as my instant messenger. I still think it’s the best one around, but I can’t talk “face to face” with my buds on it, at least not yet. I’ve hunted all over the ICQ site, and can’t find anything about the use of webcams unless you hit some chat rooms that use them there. And no, I am not a fan of chat rooms. So I use the 6.0 version of MSN and sometimes Yahoo! Instant Messenger for the times I want to use the cam. My ICQ number is 53344755, btw.
