I found a mood ring in my son’s room, and it is a dark blue right now, so I decided to look up what that means. Upon my research, I have discovered that my eyes are moood rings. I have hazel eyes that change based on my mood, and they seem to follow the color chart shown for mood rings. violet blue - happy, romantic blue - calm, relaxed green - average, not much going on with you yellow/amber - tense, excited brown/gray - nervous, anxious black - cold temperature or damaged ring You should probably watch out when they are yellow. It is usually intense. Yellow, green and blue are usually all I get. Anyone else? ---

Mine also change color. I’m not sure it depends on my mood, but they can be anywhere from gray to green to gold and any variation inbetween. I was told by my ex husband that they turned blue once when we were arguing and I was extremely angry. He was a big fat liar though, so that could be wrong. 🙂 ---

Ditto, they’re normally a blue/grey, but when I’m depressed they go more toward the grey, happy more toward the blue, angry or horny they pick up a greenish cast and when thoroughly enraged (blessedly rare) they go bright grey. ---

I really like it when they go yellow, it is really ccool looking, but it is for any type of strong emotion, anger or love mostly. So if i am yellow, I am either really in love, or realy hateful. Probably whould watch out either way 🙂 ---

Do mood rings really work? I’m not sure if I believe in them. Surely it is just to do with your body temperature and that isn’t necessarily related to how you feel? ---

Well, your skin temperature changes with emotional disturbance (sexual arousal increases blood flow to the skin, the fight-or-flight adrenaline response decreases blood flow to the skin, etc.) so there may be a grain of truth to them. Warm skin will often correspond to “happy and in love”, while your surface temperature may drop when you’re nervous or anxious, but obviously there’s a lot of individual variation–your mood ring is not calibrated to your surface temperature, and it’s not paying attention to ambient temperature or your quirks of circulation. If you normally run hotter than average, you might be stressed as hell and still have a higher skin temperature than a happy lover with poor circulation. ---

Wait, what? Your iris changes color depending on your mood? This isn’t a joke, right? The wiki doesn’t say anything about this. I have hazel eyes, and I have noticed sometimes they are more or less green, but I always thought this was just a matter of lighting. ---

No, seriously. You don’t want to be around me if they are yellow. Sometimes it’s love but more likely it is intense, um, well, I don’t really have rage, but intense unhappiness. I used to think it was dependant on what I was wearing, but this doesn’t seem to be the case. I rarely get blue, but i think that is actually pleaseant, peaceful. Wish it happened more. But the yellow is definately more striking. ---

Mine change color, but not with mood. With what I’m wearing, or how I do my makeup. They’ll go from blue to aqua to almost-but-not-quite green. ---

They do change color. I have seen it with my own(brown eye! I fucking kill me) eyes. Mine usually go more blue. If you count awaking from sleep, when I’m usually not as pissed off as later in the day, as a mood, then I suppose so. Doesn’t really correlate in my mind though. ---

Mine tend to pick up what I’m wearing more than my mood (they’re blue/green/gray), but they do turn a gorgeous shade of true green when I cry. I wish I could find a way to get that look without the waterworks. ---

Far be it from to tell anyone they don’t have mood ring eyes. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I just don’t believe this is possible. My ex-girlfriend used to say my eyes changed color, but over time I noticed whenever she said they had turned blue, I was wearing a shirt with a blue shade. I’d bet this is an optical illusion (in more ways than one, actually), but then again, IANAOpthamologist. ---

My eyes change color too, although my “color codes” seem to be different from anyone else here. 🙂 If I am truly, deeply happy (which includes being in love, but doesn’t necessarily have to mean being in love), my eyes become a deep, brilliant jade green. It’s actually rather startling how green they get. Otherwise they are some combination of grey/blue/green. They get greyer the more depressed I am. Usually there’s at least some level of green and/or blue, but I have seen them go completely iron grey, too. No one’s ever commented on my eyes when I’m angry, and for obvious reasons it never occurs to me to look, so I don’t know for that. It doesn’t typically correlate with what I’m wearing. They’ve been jade green while wearing browns and blacks and blues and reds. They’ve been grey while wearing green. I wear greens a lot, being a redhead, but it’s truly rare for my eyes to go completely green. Hell, I’m wearing green now, and my eyes are a very dark steely grey. ---

My eyes are light light bluey/green/grey. I just dyed my hair back to its natural colour (a dark blonde as opposed to a light light platinum blonde), and it’s made my eyes look much bluer and and my skin warmer. Yay! ---

What I want to know is how everyone knows this. “Oo I am really mad!” _runs to mirror and looks at eye color_😕 Really, I’m not being an ass, I just don’t understand. I also know that if I am super angry, the last thing the other party is going to do is comment on my eye color. I’m going to have to follow the clothes and make up train of thought here, I know if I wear green that my eyes look super green, when I wear blue the look blue-green… so on and so forth. The human eye just doesn’t change color like that, not actual pigmentation from green to yellow. ---

How would that even work? Can the human human eye manufacture pigments quick enough to change eye color with mood? I think someone is messing with you. ---

I used to be skeptical of these claims, but then I met someone who could consciously change his eye color by stoking various emotions in himself. While you watched him. It was creepy as all get-out. Also, my boyfriend’s hazel eyes reliably go pale gray when he’s tired, regardless of what he’s wearing. I’m assuming that the actual pigment in the eye doesn’t change, but in mixed-color eyes like hazel, differences in iris shape and contraction state could changes what colors are revealed.
