First there’s a mass in the school chapel. Then we have pre-dinner drinks on the roof terrace, overlooking Sydney Harbour and the Opera House. It’s a balmy spring day today, so that should be rather nice. Then we move off to one of the function rooms for dinner and remininscences. It will be very interesting to see what sort of turn-out we get from the Class of 1981. ---

It was a really great evening. We got a very good turn out: 70 from an original class of 95. There had been 3 deaths and 8 others were living overseas and sent their apologies. ---

You scare me. If you’re Class of '81, that means MY 30th reunion is coming up in two years. I had no idea I was that old. And I can guarantee that my 30th won’t be such a classy affair as yours was. Dayton, Ohio will never have the cachet of Sydney, I’m afraid. ---

Another one here who attended a Class of '81 reunion this year. Ours was fun, but yours certainly sounds classier. ---

It wasn’t just the catching up with fellow students that was fun. It was also great to find several of our old teachers there too. My chemistry teacher, who has since been ordained, offered the mass. And my maths teacher was there, looking fairly sprightly for a woman in her eighties. I couldn’t help but address her as “Miss Harris”; she responded that “after 30 years surely you can call me Eleanor”. I was just amazed by their phenomenal memories. It’s supposed to be my 40th this year. I haven’t heard anything yet and the year’s getting away from us, so I think it probably won’t happen.
