# I have no stripper etiquette! I’m going to see strippers tonight with a bunch of coworkers, and I just realized that I have no stripper etiquette! I’ve never seen strippers before. Is it insulting to only tip a dollar? Do I have to tip them? What should I expect? Any input is greatly appreciated. ---

I haven’t been in a long time, butt I guess a good rule of thumb would be “when in Rome.” A quick look at what’s already in her garter would probably be a good indication of what’s expected. Usually, they’ll let you know in advance how much for a table dance. Have fun…and DON’T forget to wipe off the lipstick before you go home. Trust me. ---

If you tip with a larger bill, it’s generally frowned upon to make your own change.:eek: ---

Keep the tip in your pants but it’s okay to give her some money. Whatever you do, don’t fall in love and please remember just exactly why it is that you’ll be hearing how “you’re so different from the other guys”. ---

It’s different in every area (some touch, some no touch, some put the dollar in the bikini, some have a band on the lower leg just for that, and some collect it afterward.). For the first time going to a place in a new area it’s good to do a basic survey before jumping right up on sniffers row. Just sort of see what everybody else is doing and do that. An average place is 1 buck for a stage dance and 15(with the other 5 from the twenty as an expected tip) for a complete lap dance. Lap dances are offered by the women walking around, not the stage, and they will come by and ask. Some places get much more expensive, but you will feel uncomfortable and leave early in those places usually. And if you put your buck on the stage and get ignored for a while don’t take it personally, they take care of the regulars first. ---

I’ve been to two places; one, the Kit Kat Club, was very strict on not touching the girls- you couldn’t even blow on them. Another place, down in San Francisco, the Crazy Horse, is a much more libreal establishment and make it very worthwhile for the patrons to tip the girls; most girls will hop in your lap and grind a bit or let you feel their boobs for a moment :eek: In California, a strip club cannot be all-nude if it serves alcohol; some states may be different on this standard. ---

Here it’s legal to go totally naked, so essentially, her bits are flapping in the breeze. The viewers will then huck loonies and toonies at the woman’s bits, to see if they can, um, “get it in”, if you know what I mean. However, none of the woman that actually do the dancing/stripping seem to be complaining, so why should I. As to the OP, I think as long as you treat the woman with respect you will be fine. If you offer her a tip and she offers you a body part to attach it to (like her arm or leg with a garter) just put the $$ there - don’t complain and try to tuck it in her g-string or whatever. Here in California they have all-nude strip clubs as well. And in San Francisco, things can get pretty crazy on saturday nights. One evening when I went to a club, a guy’s friends payed up the $20 for the guy to lie on stage. The stripper handed him a glass dildo and told him to hold it at crotch level. She then _ahem_ used it with him holding on the ground, simulating intercourse. :eek: You don’t even want to know what I had to go through to get a free poster of one stripper :rolleyes: ---

Well, first off, I realize I neglected to mention the fact that I’m a woman, so it was pretty easy to keep the “tip” in my pants! It was disappointing, in part, because “Camelot” is kind of a classy joint. It was nothing like I expected. We sat right in front (10 of us), and could’ve easily reached out and touched the dancers, had we wished to get thrown out. They didn’t do anything particularly acrobatic, or naughty. Just nekkid dancing, and a garter where patrons placed tips. No touching. No picking up dollar bills from the stage “hands free”. It has left me curious, however. They all seemed to do the same basic dance regardless of the rhythm of the music, and each one had a “signature move.” So, do they go to stripper school to learn the basic steps? Are there catfights backstage (“you stole my spinning spread eagle pole slide, you ho!”)? Thanks for the advice, all. ---

You should try it next time. I seem to remember many women sitting spread-eagled on the small stage. Definitely not what you would call classy. ---
