1. US Navy / Marine Corps when I joined up 2. C.I.A. as part of the interview process 3. S.E.C. when I was a stock broker 4. State of California (thumbprint only) for my driver’s license 5. University of California when I was a lecturer 6. Club soccer “E” license for working with kids I better not commit any crimes without wearing gloves. ---

I can’t beat the sheer number of fingerprintings, but I’ve been printed four times in the past year. 1. Three sets for FINRA when I got my Series 6 and 63 2. Pennsylvania Department of Insurance when I got my licenses 3. Two sets for the US Census Bureau 4. Pennsylvania Department of Education for school. I’m now an old hand (heh) at that. ---

I can only think of once, when I got my insurance license. I don’t recall it being required for a CA drivers license but if it is then that would be twice. ---

1. some tour of the local RCMP station when i was a kid 2. arrested for driving with a suspended license (pled guilty, served 5 of 7 days) 3. criminal record clearance to accompany immigration application yup, 2 and 3 seem contradictory; apparently, because my offense was under the b.c. motor vehicle act and didn’t involve a death or alcohol, it doesn’t appear on my criminal record - even though i appeared in a court, pled guilty, and served time in prison (an actual prison, not city jails) ---

Is fingerprinting for passports something new? I certainly was not fingerprinted when I got mine in 2004. ---

Adopted a kid from Russia early this year. I think my wife and I each got fingerprinted a dozen or so times, just during that process. We got _very_ familiar with the different nearby locations where one could get fingerprinted. Plus for our passports, and twice over the years for our security clearances on account of working for the government, and once when I was working as a security guard in between ‘real’ jobs. ---

My wife and I were also fingerprinted as part of the adoption process, but only once each for each of our children. I was fingerprinted once as a child during a police station tour, and once as part of the background check for my current job. I also have a California driver’s license and a passport, and am pretty sure I have not been fingerprinted for either. (I was fingerprinted once at a local police station when I was 17 though…) ---

I don’t think I’ve ever been fingerprinted. I started a federal job in 1976 and got a passport in the late 70s but I don’t remember being fingerprinted for either one. I wonder if there’s any way of finding out if my fingerprints are in “the system” anywhere? Not that I’m planning on embarking on a life of crime at my age. ---

Let’s just say that all the cops in town knew me by name and leave it at that. 😃 The CHP prints were voluntary. I was on a tour of their headquarters and the guy asked for a volunteer to show how it was done.
