Tonight on Jeopardy, a clue was given regarding Constantinople; the answer – er, question – was “Instanbul.” My wife glared at me, saying “and thanks to your stupid musical group, every time I hear Constantinople OR Istanbul, I get that stupid song stuck in my head.” “That stupid group,” of course, is They Might Be Giants, and “that stupid song” is _Istanbul/Constantinople_. Yesssss! The virus has spread! ---

Heh, I just heard that song again yesterday, and I sang along with it. My son looked at me as if I were an alien, then started dancing with me to it. “…it’s nobody’s business but the Turks.” My son’s only three, and he already thinks it’s funny. 😃 Better than having the Blue’s Clues theme in your head all night. ---

There was a week a month or so ago where I would get “Birdhouse in your Soul” stuck in my head right before bed every night and not be able to get to sleep because it would just keep repeating over and over and over again. ---

Particle Man…Loved that 'toon! Reminds me of that time in The Army when me & my buddy were working off some article 15 action (only a true buddy will get an article 15 with you!). Does it bother anyone else that they never mention the fact that Constantinople used to be Byzantium? I’ve also heard the Four Lads version. It’s just not the same. ---

I have an almost daily challenge with a coworker where we try to get the most annoying song in each other’s head. Yesterday, when I was hanging around his machine, he started singing the “Oopmah Loompah” song and looked at me in a challenging way. Damned if it didn’t work. I had that song in my head for hours. That was all well and good and part of the game. I did get my revenge later in the day. I walked by him and belted out at the top of my lungs, with feeling, lines from “Afternoon Delight.” I dropped back by three hours later and he swore at me for that one. ---
