I don’t know how practical it is, nor if it’s already being done, but I think that it just might calm things down over there. Of course, it wouldn’t happen over night, but considering how long things have been a mess over there, a few more years is going to be an eye blink in history.

America should immediately begin doing it in Iraq as well. Again, it’d take a long time for it to work (if it did), but I think that it’d go a long way in helping to ensure that Iraq really **did** become a democracy.

What we need to do, is dub [_Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood_](http://pbskids.org/rogers/) and [_Sesame Street_](http://www.ctw.org/) into the various local languages and broadcast them there. (I realize that Mr. Rogers is no longer with us, but there’s some 40 years of tape that can be used.) If nothing else, by showing these programs over there, the US would help disspell some of it’s “evil ogre” image in the Mid-East.

There used to be an Israeli Sesame Street, spoken in Hebrew. I forget the exact name of the show, but it was basically Sesame Street and it ran in the 80s. Sorry I don’t have a cite - only reason I know is because my parents had a tape.
