The risk is not that random individual won’t change but that _systemic_ change won’t happen. So what some people are “doing about it” is trying to get the system to change, against the wishes of those who (for various reasons) do not wish the system to change. To paraphrase from The Matrix: I’d like to share a revelation I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify posters such as FXM. I realized that they are not actually rational posters. Every rational poster on this board instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with this board, but folks like FXM do not. They move to the board, and their posts multiply, and multiply, until every thread they post in is consumed by da stupid. The only way they can survive is through the grace of the mods…if not, they simply spread to another board. There is a name for such a simple yet malicious organism on this board, and in fact throughout the internet, that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A Troll™. Trolls, such as FXM, are a disease, a cancer on this and every other message board on the internet. You, FXM, and your ilk (LOVE using that word…just don’t get to say ‘ilk’ every day, you know?) are a plague, and we, on the 'dope … we are the cure. -XT ---

Well, that’s settled it. FXMastermind confidently asserts that AGW is a myth. Time for us all to invest in heatpumps and biomass boilers, and make sure our house is at least 10m above current sea levels. FXM, you’re the resident poster boy for stupid. If you announced that Santa Claus is a myth, I’d probably start writing letters to the North Pole. And yes, I know this post is pure ad hominem, but there you go. You’ve demonstrated repeatedly that you have no interest in either factual discussion or reasoned argument, so frankly it’s a lot more enjoyable just to point out you’re thick as shit and be done with it. ---

[/QUOTE] 😛 It literally took me 10 seconds to do a search in GD on ‘global warming’ in the title for all posts 2 years or newer and I got 17 results. And that’s JUST threads that have ‘global warming’ in their title. I’m not your search monkey, and, frankly, you ALREADY look stupid enough…you don’t need anyone’s help to look even more stupid. Outside of yourself and maybe a lurker or two who are too lazy to do their own searches everyone in this thread already knows that there have been a lot of heated debates on global warming, especially in GD, in the past. There aren’t as many now because, well, folks like GIGO have cleaned the clocks of most denier types, and by and large the issue has been settled, at least around here. The only debate, afaiac, is what we do about it…now THAT is certainly a contentious issue IMHO. But the fact that global climate change is happening, and that a large part of the reason is anthropogenic? Naw…that’s settled for most folks at this point. -XT ---
