Ya know, on the one hand I do agree with you. Boston fans can get really annoying with all their whining. On the other hand… Boston will NEVER win the World Series **EVER**. The curse of the Bambino will keep them just this far from **ever** winning it. Bwahahaha. 😃 ---

It’s impossible for Boston to win the World Series. Can’t happen. That said, do Boston fans really whine that much? They seem to BRAG a lot, which is kind of weird given that they, you know, never win the World Series. But I hear more smack talk than whining. ---

I agree with RickJay. It’s more of a bravado than whining. Which makes their fans to be the most unappealling in baseball. I wonder what would happen to that franchise and their fans if they actually won the World Series. Not that it’s going to happen, of course. But their whole “act” would change. I think it would be very wierd. They’d have their championship, but eveything else would be gone. ---

I just got off the el train, filled with happy Brooklynites and Manhattanites and Queenies and Richmonders going to Yankee stadium to watch the mighty crush the sacrifical team du jour. I got off at the last stop to see happy Westchesterians walking to the subway, having had to park their cars up to a mile away, to head south to the stadium. Aside over. I lived half my life in Boston and am willing to give one of our usual Yankee victories to the Sox **there’ll be a change of topic up there for goddamn once!** Grazie. ---

They can’t win. They just can’t. You see, the Cubs? They’re cursed. Honest and true, cursed. But the BoSox? That ain’t a curse. That’s the ire of the Yankees. Have you heard the things they’ve said about A-Rod and Jeter? They tried to stop Steinbrenner from picking up A-Rod’s contract. That’s just wrong, to break up a pair like that. And so, they must be crushed. Firmly. And so, the Yankees do so. Last year? The Yanks threw the World Series to the Marlins. Because they rotated pitchers just to be sure they crushed the Red Sox. This year? You seen the catches Jeter made? Unimportant game. But against the BoSox. They must not. Can not. Will not win. It’s not the curse of the Bambino. You can beat curses. It’s the heart of the Yankees they’re fighting. And they’re just not good enough to beat that. ---

I have mixed feelings about this now. I am a Sox fan, and I think I’ve been fairly good natured in my dealings with Yankee fans, concerning Boston’s inability to win when it means something. I hope they win, like I said, becasue I’m a Sox fan. On the other hand, I hope they lose, just to piss off the OP, and make him suffer through another year of bitching and moaning from us. 😛 I mostly hope they win though, since I missed Haley’s comet. It’d be nice to see at least one once-in-a-lifetime thing once in my lifetime. 😃 ---

You know baseball players and their fans are superstitious and have silly rituals. They don’t step on the baselines, they apply pinetar to their bats a certain way, they eat a certain thing before every game (Wade Boggs always ate chicken before games, for example), etc. Fans have rally caps, rally monkeys, throw back opposing home runs. Hell, when my softball team wins, I wear the same t-shirt under my jersey (still looking for that elusive lucky t-shirt, BTW). Sometimes they get carried away. Ruth’s piano? Bunk. See what good detroying the Bartman Ball did? But, if it makes the fans feel like they’re doing something to help their team win, then what’s the harm? I see the OP’s point about obnoxious fans, but they’re not exclusive to fans with a B on their cap. Having spent some time in the right field bleachers at Yankee Stadium, I can tell you that they’re not all Boy Scouts, either. But it is ridiculous of me to pigeonhole all Yankee fans because of a few overzealous idiots. Every team’s got some. Well, maybe not so much in Milwaukee. 😉 ---

Frazee was one of the better owner the Sox ever had, and if it weren’t for Ban Johnson the Sox probably would have been OK.
