Boy Bands are merely proof that Marketing=Evil.
They were created for little girls to scream at, and as soon as they were done doing the creating, they decided to call themselves serious musicians. That’s what I don’t get. You want to make money at that kind of thing … more power to you, but don’t tell me to take you seriously.
But … I’m with you on the whole, “I hope he has a good time,” deal. He may be a joke in the music scene, but it sounds like he wants to do this for himself – he has the opportunity and the money to do it – hell I would too … no matter how much your average adult hated me.

How about I just hope he really enjoys the peace and tranquility of outer space, and when he returns decides to live as a hermit, and really enjoys being away from it all? Is that OK? I have no desire to wish him ill, but it’d be nice if he just kind of went away.

Not at all. I am terrified of flying. Absolutely scared out of my wits. But I’ll fly to get somewhere, because that’s the only way to get some places.
And if I had $20 million to blow and could go into space, I’d go in a SECOND. I may be afraid of flying, but going into space is worth it anyway.
I was confusing the Bass family with the Tandy family.
(The Tandy’s own (or did) radio shack. The Basses are mega rich (or were). Both are from Fort Worth).
It just seems to be the case that there are few coincidences in the entertainment industry, is all.

as in Sid and Anne Bass and Sid and Mercedes Bass.
Sid Richardson was an oil wildcatter who struck rich but left his fortune to his nephews (he had no children, IIRC). There is a Sid Bass (or more than one – I’m not keeping track) in the family, though, no doubt named after the great uncle.
