I joined, and pledged support to Yes California today.

This Freeman Of The Land style argument doesn’t actually convince anyone of anything. You can declare whatever secret constitutional loophole you want, but it isn’t going to make federal courts, federal law enforcement, or the US Army change their mind or actions about anything.

Calexit needs more than 1 million people signing a petition to actually secede from the US. 1 million people is nowhere close to a 51% vote in CA, for example. You’re trying to make a big deal out of getting the level of support that the ‘make it legal to kill gays’ ballot initiative did. The Russian-run Calexit movement is going to get some second-page news stories and provide a target for rants from Breibart, sure. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to do more than the Texas secession movement.

I’m not reading that dicta as saying anything more than “The states can change the constitution if enough of them so wish”. Well, duh!!

It’s convincing Californian’s to sign. That’s all that matters now. But I like the “if you can reason with them, go Kent State on them” reference. And you wonder why people want out?

number of people need to qualify a measure for the ballot, and the number of people needed to pass it are two different things. No one is voting by signing. You knew that, right?

That’s the fastest 180 I’ve seen on this forum. From “no possible way” to “look a way.”

But, it is.

Yep, now.

So, you’re assuming California would still have free access to the US markets? And would be able to negotiate into the WTO on the same terms as the US?

How much of CA’s power and water come down from Oregon and Washington?

San Diego in particular is going to love losing the naval and marine bases (and I assume various Army and Air Force installations in other parts of CA).

But you said that it is not.

ETA: This is the fastest 180 I’ve ever seen on this forum.

The California government goes ‘Kent State’ on people who break California’s laws too - the LAPD is pretty famous for using excessive force, for example. Trying to pretend like California is some magical non-violent land where the police never arrest lawbreakers and use force if they resist is just bizarre.

You said, and I quoted above “1 million, that’s all CalExit needs”. Looks like you’re backing away from the position that CalExit just needs 1 million signatures, but we’re used to your position changing from page to page and even post to post.

California leaving?

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out !

Once I eliminate all your guesses and opinions, there’s nothing left to comment on.
So,…

Everything you’ve posted in this thread has been guesses and oddly informed opinion.

It’s not just a ‘guess’ or ‘opinion’ that California supports using force on people who break the law - take a trip to LA, tell the LAPD that you’re not going to recognize their laws, and do something illegal like seizing city property, then see how long you keep all of your teeth in your head. The cloak of moral superiority you claim over people advocating the use of force to defend US citizens against wild-eyed revolutionaries looks pretty threadbare when you’re talking about a ‘peaceful’ government that includes the LAPD as one of its enforcement arms.

Wow. Cops actually hurt people? Everywhere or just in LA? Even in Minnesconsin? Wow.

“Californian Lives Matter?”

California leaving on this November day

Ahh, the old switcheroo again. Do you get busy reversing positions so often?

I do dig through your posts trying to to find legitimate questions and comments you might have hidden in there somewhere. In the event I do find one, I try to answer it. If I don’t, I just move on.

California has so much debt that the economy would collapse the minute we kicked their asses out of the US. Once you are gone, you get no $ when we crank up the US Currency printing presses, which that state has been sucking on like a newborn on it’s mother’s tit.
It’s actually embarrassing to think that there are people out there that are so stupid that they think that state can secede and survive.

I have no doubt CA could make it on its own, under the right conditions-- an amicable split with the US. It’s the amicable bit that is problematic. Most every state could also probably do it, although some of the landlocked ones might have problems. Even Rhode Island would not be all that tiny compared to some European countries. If the country did break up along state lines, one might imagine that certain blocks might form again (e.g., New England becomes a country with the 6 states it is comprised of).

Would be a real shame, but it’s not impossible. Under the right conditions, though, and I see no reason to believe that those conditions would be forthcoming in our lifetimes.
