As incoherrent, surrealistic, bizarre, and insane as Homer’s posts were - he **was still able to successfully post to the SDMB!** I think this might explain why we are so susceptable to troll attacks - if Homer on serious shrooms can post, then who _wouldn’t_ be able to? ---

I spent about 5 minutes trying to convince her that he didn’t matter, but I was so baked I really didn’t care one way or the other so I got up and went back down stairs and fucked around until 6:30 or so then went back up to my sister’s room and slept in one of the bunk beds. I woke up and I was like “Ooooh, fuck. Hope Sarah (one of my sisters) didn’t hear us…” then I laid in bed until I heard the girl leave so I wouldn’t have to ‘have a talk about what happened’. Maeg, I don’t know if you know what Geiss is. It’s a plugin to WinAmp that makes… well. I can’t describe it. Let’s just say that after Saturday, it’s the closest thing I can think of that is even close to the ‘behind my vision’ hallucinations I saw. The beginning (demo) visualization is almost EXACTLY what I was seeing in my first few lines. Bright green, stark black, harsh red, splash of yellow, moving with music and sound. Go to [http://www.winamp.com](http://www.winamp.com) go to visualizations download Geiss (and WhiteCap), install it, and play a song. You’ll see what I mean. I think the penis line was about the priest on Mermaid. I know he didn’t have an erection, but I did, and they were watching the Mermaid cartoon, so it got inexplicably linked. I hope you enjoyed it, Homer. You’ll never have another trip like it. First one is always the best. I could expound for hours on the subject of psilocybin, having had a bit of experience growing 'shrooms (in a nice brown rice/vermiculite mixture, not cow shit), picking wild ones from cow shit, and consuming them in fairly decent quantities. If there’s one piece of advice I can give you regarding future use, it’s this : \*\* DON’T TAKE TOO MANY!!!\*\* Even experienced trippers can be thrown for a loop with a big dose of mushrooms. I’ve personally never had a bad trip on LSD. I’ve had three on mushrooms. In all fairness, though, that’s probably attributable to the small doses LSD comes in these days (~75 mcg today vs. 250 mcg in the 60’s). One of those mushroom trips landed me in the hospital via a nice, expensive ambulance. Not because of the physical effects (it’s harmless), but because I was out of my friggin’ gourd! My wife had taken a similar dose and she honestly thought she was dying. She also didn’t know who I even was! I freaked out and called 911. Cops and EMTs were all over my apartment in minutes. I was so fried that I showed the cops my growing operation and told them that I was an amature mycologist (pulled _that_ one out of my ass, considering how wasted I was). Turns out not _one_ of the cops or EMTs even knew what shrooms were or that I could go to prison for years for what I had just shown them! They hauled me to the hospital where I eventually calmed down and started to laugh about the situation. The doctor came around and asked me what had happened. He asked me if I was sure that p. cubensis was the species I’d consumed. I told him that I had grown it and I was sure. He told me I’d have nothing to worry about … except those damn hospital bills. I tore down my grow setup that day and never put it back up. I’m still paying ambulance bills today, a year and a half later. Moral of the story : MEASURE YOUR DOSE! Things could get very embarrassing if you don’t. 🙂 ---

One thing I forgot : The number of mushrooms you eat is not an accurate measure of dosage. There are psilocybes the size of a quarter and there are psilocybes that stretch out to over a foot in length with caps like dinner plates. If you don’t have a scale, dry the shrooms and powder them. A loosely packed teaspoon of dried shroom powder is about 1/2 gram, IIRC. An accurate scale would certainly be your best bet, though. To furthur complicate matters, some species of psilocybe are 2-3 times more potent than cubensis. Luckily (or unluckily, depending on your perspective), you’ll never find these on the street since they’re really difficult to grow. ---

I’ve been reading up on them all day now, neutron. Still not clear on the street prices, but hey. One friend ‘in the know’ says $10/gram, some sites say anywhere from $15/quarter to $40/quarter. I’ve read through everything you’ve just mentioned, though, and everyone seems to corroborate it. Don’t know exactly what they were (neither did the guy who gave them to me, nor the guy they bought it from, and probably not the guy HE bought it from, but I’m guessing cubensis, seeing as how they seem to dominate the market) but he apparently got enough for 3 people for $20. Everything I’ve read also says that 4-8 times a year is tops, too much, and the effect goes down to nil. I’ve got a friend who wants to try it on Friday. Not sure if I want to go back up so soon. All the pages I read say to wait at least a week, or two, to get a strong trip. I dunno. Guess we’ll see how this turns out. Great stuff Homer. Really great. The last time i did mushrooms, I spent at least 5 weeks staring at myself in the mirror, growling and snarling. Then I realised it was only about 2 minutes. My favorite thing tough is to go out in the fog. don’t know if you have it where you are, but you should try it sometime. Especially walking backwards in the fog. Great stuff. Also fun was going to the museum of modern art and staring at the paintings. Alll of as sudden the stuff you didn’t get, makes total sense to you. Great stuff.
