we’re still in the $2.30 range in southern Maine and coastal New Hampshire, but i won’t consider gas prices “cheap” until it’s back below $1.50/gal (yes, yes, i know, probably never going to be that low again, but that’s my official “stop griping about prices” number…) ---

Oh dear, I’m tearing up. This is so depressing. ☹ BTW, it’s around $2.50 here in Baton Rouge. Just a couple of years ago it almost went under $1 in Florida! I miss those days… I also miss the days (just 3 months ago) when my electric bill was half of what it is now. ---

I paid $2.19 yesterday. A couple of months ago at the same station I was paying $2.99. It’s been a weird year. ---

Unless I’ve made a mistake in the calculations, but I make current prices in the UK to be around the equivalent of $6 gallon (US). So I win. ---

I don’t understand. They said after Katrina the price of gas would go up to $5 a gallon or somesuch. How can it be dropping so much? ---

Well, you folks jinxed us in the Cleveland area… last night gas in my neck of the woods went from $2.01 a gallon to anywhere from $2.19 to $2.25 a gallon… Hopefully it’ll start back down again soon… ---

Because they’re dealing with flammable substances, oil refineries are built to be easily repaired (“easy” as opposed to rebuilding a microchip factory or an automobile plant). ---

Best I have seen was $2.28 in BumF\_\_K, Alabama north of here where the inlaws live. Around here at least 10 cents more than that ---
